Susan says…
On Tuesday night, May 5th, at 10 pm Eastern Time, be sure to watch “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern” on The Travel Channel for the episode entitled “Appalachia”.
Andrew will visit two West Virginia locations in this episode: Ember at Snowshoe Mountain Resort and The Hutte Restaurant in Helvetia.
“The Hutte Restaurant”, pronounced hoottay, is located at 1 Main Street in Helvetia and serves authentic Swiss/German food. The interior is filled with Swiss & American antiques to give you plenty to look at while dining. It’s only 30 miles from Buckhannon, but takes about an hour to drive, given the curvy, two-lane road. On Sundays, a country buffet called “Bernerplatte” that features many Swiss delights is served and reservations are recommended by calling 304.924.6435.
At Ember, Andrew enjoys several different preparations of squirrel, including squirrel brains. Ember is located on top of Snowshoe Mountain and serves dinner daily starting at 5 pm. They are closed for a portion of the year – the restaurant will reopen May 22. Call 304.572.1111 for reservations.
Fork You reported on the taping of this episode back in November.
Be sure to set your TIVOs and DVRs to record this episode featuring Wild, Wonderful West Virginia.
